With warm, exceptionally clear water and dramatic underwater topography, Kaş is widely rated as Türkiye's premier diving destination. Whether you've never dived before or you're a seasoned diver, here's what makes it special.

What you'll see underwater

What you'll see underwater

Expect dramatic walls and canyons, swim-throughs, caverns and a surprising amount of life — groupers, moray eels, octopus, amberjacks and seasonal visitors. There are also wrecks, including an accessible plane wreck, plus underwater amphorae and ancient anchors that hint at the area's long history.

Diving for first-timers and pros

Never dived? A guided 'try dive' (discover scuba) lets complete beginners experience the underwater world safely in shallow, calm water. Certified divers can choose from dozens of sites suiting every level, and many dive centres run courses up to professional grades. The calm summer conditions and great visibility make Kaş ideal for learning.

Signature dive sites

Signature dive sites

Three sites define Kaş diving. Canyon offers a long swim through narrow walls in 15 to 30 metres of water, lit by sunlight from above. The Big Reef (Büyük Reef) is a classic deep wall starting at 20 metres and dropping into the blue, alive with groupers and barracuda. The Flying Fish wreck, a small WWII era plane in 25 to 30 metres, is a unique highlight and sits on a sandy bed inside a sheltered bay. Beginners and certified divers can dive most sites; depth and current decide which suits which day.

Season, water temperature and visibility

The dive season runs roughly April to November. Water temperature ranges from a brisk 18°C in early spring to 27 ‑ 28°C in August and September. Visibility is consistently good (20 to 30 metres) and best in May, June and October when there's less plankton. July and August are the calmest, warmest months and ideal for first timers; June and September are the local favourites for serious divers because the water is warm but the boats are less busy.

What to bring and what's provided

What to bring and what's provided

Dive centres provide everything you need: tanks, regulators, BCDs, weights, masks, fins and wetsuits sized for the water temperature. You only need swimwear, a towel, sun cream and a refillable water bottle. If you own your own gear, bring it; centres will typically discount the dive when you do. Certified divers should bring a printed or digital copy of their certification and the last logbook page. Underwater cameras can be hired at most centres.

Safety, regulations and dive centres

All diving in Türkiye is regulated and requires licensed centres, instructors and insurance. Reputable Kaş operators follow PADI, SSI or CMAS standards, brief every dive thoroughly and respect no fly windows (24 hours after a single dive, 18 after a course). A hyperbaric chamber is located in Antalya, about 3.5 hours away. Choose a centre that uses small boats with shaded decks, fresh water rinse tanks and oxygen on board. Avoid the cheapest options if they cut corners on group size or guide ratio.
